The Overland Neilma Sidney Prize was created in 2007 and is supported by the Malcolm Robertson Foundation. The contest is open to writers at any stage in their careers.. The Society for the History of Technology has named York University Professor Edward Jones-Imhotep the winner of the 2018 Sidney Edelstein Prize — the most prestigious book prize on the history of technology. Jones-Imhotep is only the second faculty member of a Canadian university to ever receive the honour in its 50-year history. The HIST Award for Outstanding Achievement in the History of Chemistry (2013-present) is given by the Division of the History of Chemistry of the American Chemical Society (ACS). The award was originally known as the Dexter Award (1956-2001) and then briefly as the Sidney M. Edelstein Award (2002-2009), both given by the ACS.
